Acetyl Hexapeptide

The trademark name for Acetyl Hexapeptide is Argireline. It is also called a neuropeptide. This is the product that is marketed as “an alternative to Botox”, because it claims to relax certain types of facial wrinkles by inhibiting the release of neurotransmitters.

Peptides in Skin Care

In a clinical study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, argireline at a 10% concentration was reported to reduce the depth of wrinkles up to 30% after 30 days of use.

Since the product would have to absorb all the way to the muscle cells (not likely) to have a Botox-like effect, there is really no way they can be a true alternative to Botox. Some people do report great results from using it, but it is basically an unproven ingredient that is strictly optional for an anti-aging skin care routine. If you do want to give it a try, look for it in a multi-tasking product that will provide you other benefits as well - some are listed below.

Recommended Products that contain Argireline
Peptide SerumSix is a multi-peptide serum that contains Argireline as well as five other peptides. It is paraben-free and also free from mineral oils, additives, fillers. It is a very effective product.
