Alpha Hydrox AHA Enhanced Lotion

Alpha Hydrox AHA Enhanced Lotion

Alpha Hydrox AHA Enhanced Lotion is a Glycolic Acid Lotion that contains 10% Glycolic Acid. It also contains Vitamin E for moisturization and can be used on the face as well as any other part of the body (and at 6 ounces for around $12, you won't feel guilty doing so!).

I think this is a decent basic Alpha Hydroxy Lotion and it has many loyal users. I used a bottle years ago and I didn't feel I had gotten any noticeable benefits from it so I never repurchased it. Since then I have come to the realization that I have very thick skin and require aggressive exfoliation to make a difference - just using a 10% AHA once or twice a day gives me no noticeable effects. However, for many people who have more "normal" skin, this is an OK product.

Through the years, especially in the years that I have been building this website, I have become much more aware of the individual ingredients in skin care products. The ingredient that concerns me in this product is Petrolatum. Now I don't really have anything against Petrolatum - Vaseline is pure Petrolatum jelly and Mineral oil is derived from Petrolatum - I just don't want to put it on my face. Depending on who you believe, it is the best thing you can put on your face or the worst thing you can put on your face and they all have "studies" to back up their claims. I'll let you decide for yourself.

My thick skin is a mixed blessing because it is less prone to wrinkles and I do look younger than my age, but I am also very prone to blackheads, whiteheads, clogged pores, blemishes and I have learned through the years that any product with Petrolatum or mineral oil clogs my pores. So if you don't have any issues with Petrolatum or Mineral Oil and don't have problems with enlarged or clogged pores you may enjoy this product, many people do.
