Home Microdermabrasion is a popular as it is controversial.  Companies who sell the products seem to want you to think it will save you a trip to the plastic surgeon.  The critics say you may damage your skin, it is just an expensive scrub and/or you can get the same results with facial cleanser and a washcloth.  I happen to believe that the truth is in the middle.  It is an expensive scrub, but the scrubbing particles are much smaller than traditional scrubs.  It can definitely help to improve the texture and appearance of your skin over time.

Microdermabrasion products for home use include cloths, creams, kits and systems.  The type of product you choose will depend on your preference and skin type.  Those with sensitive skin should tread lightly!  Your skin type will also dictate the frequency of use.  I have very thick congested skin that evidently cannot be over-exfoliated (I've tried).  As an experiment, I used the philosophy Microdelivery Peel Kit everyday for 4 weeks.  It did not irritate my skin at all, but I also did not feel like it provided any more results that using it 2 times a week.  Now I do use it twice a week, but often will use another microdermabrasion cream or scrub once or twice a week as well.
