Peptides in Skin Care

Peptides in Skin Care Peptides in skin care are now considered to be important ingredients in anti-aging skin care. Here is everything you need to know to make peptides work for you.

What is a Peptide? - Explains what peptides are and why they are used in skin care.

Peptides in Anti-Aging Products
Different peptides have different effects. There are four important peptides used in skin care:
Acetyl Hexapeptide
Palmitoyl Pentapeptide
Palmitoyl Oligopeptide
Copper Peptide

Peptide Skin Care
Skin Care with Peptides is reported to reduce the signs of aging by increasing collagen production, thereby making the skin thicker and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Many skin care products contain several different peptides, which is probably the best route to go if you want to add peptides to your skin care regimen.

Peptides in Skin Care are available in moisturizers, serums and eye creams.
Peptide Moisturizers
Peptide Creams can be used by using a moisturizer that contains peptides. Look for a good multi-tasking product that contains many beneficial ingredients, including an SPF for daytime. One of my favorites is Serious Skin Care A-Cream with Retinol and Triple Peptides and I really like philosophy When Hope Is Not Enough SPF 20.

Peptide Serums
If you want to add peptides into your skin care wihtout changing any other products, go with a serum. There are some good serums that also contain retinol and/or other beneficial ingredients. Serums are applied first, before any creams or moisturizers. My favorite is philosophy When Hope Is Not Enough Serum, although I am also a big fan of Serious Skin Care A-Force Serum with Retinol and Peptides.

Peptide Eye Creams
There are many good eye creams with peptides. Again, look for a multi-purpose product that contains many beneficial ingredients. The one I love and have great results with is philosophy eye believe.
Avon also has a good eye product with peptides called Advanced Eye Perfector. It combats puffiness very well (it is a gel that can be cooled in the fridge), but is is not very moisturizing. If you under eye skin is dry, you would need to use a cream over it. If you are younder and looking for a preventative more than a treatment, it is a good option.
