Retinol LotionRetinol Lotion is a good choice if you want to add retinol to you skin care regimen in a multi-purpose product that also provides moisturization. Lotion is thinner and cream and thicker than serum and is a good choice for normal to oily skin. You can select a "stand alone" lotion that provides retinol only, one that provides retinol along with other skin treatment products or one that doubles as a moisturizer. If you are using it as a day time moisturizer, look for one that includes an SPF, as retinol increases the skin's sensitivity to sun exposure. Also, if you are sensitive to retinol, a lotion or cream may be a better choice, as it may prevent the irritation and severe exfoliation that some users experience. Many lotions that claim to include retinol do have have the proper packaging to preserve it. Retinol is destroyed by exposure to air and light - so the packining must be either an air tight opaque pump or tube. Jars or bottles will allow the product to quickly become worthless. Recommended ProductsHealthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer contains SPF 20 and Retinol and is a great multi-tasking product.Avon Anew All in One Lotion is an outstanding multi-purpose product that contains retinol, glycolic acid, anti-oxidants, a light moisturizer and a sunscreen (SPF 15). It is a great product for normal to oily skin and especially for those prone to acne, breakouts, blackheads or clogged pores. Even if you don't have any of those, this is a great product to try if you are looking to just use one skin care product in the morning. Serious Skin Care A Cream is another great multi-purpose retinol lotion to try if you are looking to get bang for your buck from one product. There are several different formulations available - all have retinol, others have a peptides as well. There are versions with and without SPF (for day and night). This is another good one to try to get the most benefit from one product. I would pick this one over the Avon one if you tend more towards normal and don't have acne / enlarged pore / clogged pore issues. (This is called a cream, but it is more of a lotion to me - it is very light and is suitable for all skin types.) Retinol Serum - if you are looking to add retinol to your skin care regimen without changing products, your best bet is to simply add a retinol serum. Retinol Cream may be a better choice if you have normal to dry skin and need more moisture.
