Retinol Serum

Retinol Serum is a good choice for many. Retinol Serums are lighter liquids that are rapidly absorbed into the skin and are a good choice for those with oilier skin and anyone who wants to add retinol to their regimen without adding another layer of moisturization.

Retinol

I am not an advocate of applying layers and layers of skin care products, but I do strongly recommend a stand-alone retinol product. It is one of the few ingredients that has been proven to have many benefits to the skin, including lessening of fine lines, reduced pore size, increased collagen production and reduction in acne blemishes and blackheads.

The serum you select should be in a container that does not allow light or air to come in contact with the product - such as an opaque pump container, a tube or an opaque bottle. It should be applied at night after cleansing, before any other product. Dry your face completely before applying the retinol. Wait until it is completely absorbed to apply more products.

Retinol can cause irritation (mild redness, a warm, tingling sensation or flaking due to exfoliation). These are normal and temporary reactions - you know it is working! You may want to start with every other day or every third day to reduce the chance of irritation. If your skin does get red and irritated, cut back on the frequency of application and then gradually build it back up to daily use.

As a reminder, retinol use does increase sun sensitivity, so make sure you are using a sunscreen everyday.

Recommended Retinol Serum

Beauticontrol Retinol SerumI have researched dozens (feels like hundreds) of the top rated retinol products - the ingredients, user and industry expert reviews. I have personally tried many of them for extended periods of time.

I am currently using Beauticontrol Regeneration Overnight Retinol Recovery Serum. I have oiler acne prone skin with congested pores - this is a silky lightweight serum that I prefer to the heavier creams. The retinol is also "encapsulated" - which means it is time-released and hopefully stays active on the skin for a longer period of time. I really prefer this to all the other creams and serums that I have tried.

After using it for about a month, I am seeing a big improvement in my skin - especially in my pore size - my pores have gone from enlarged to invisible. I have also had clogged or congested pores around my mouth & chin and they are slowly opening and clearing up.

The ingredients include : 0.4% Retinol, Vitamin E, Watermelon Fruit Extract, Algae Extract, Green Tea Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Allantoin, Squalane.

I joined BeautiControl because of their Retinol and Vitamin C products - I wanted to be able to offer them to my website visitors because I really so feel they are the best products for the money & I have not been disappointed.
